Nanami: Where are you from?
Rio: I’m from Tokyo. I have been everywhere in Japan like Gunma and Saitama.
Nanami: What is your department?
Rio: I’m APS and I want to major in IR probably.
Nanami: What is your grade?
Rio: I’m now in my second semester.
I started with the upper intermediate class. That’s the first semester, and second semester I was already done. So that’s why I’m taking this class.
Nanami: What did you do during summer vacation?
Rio: I went to Osaka with my high school friends, hometown friends, and going to some Universal Studio Japan and Dotonbori. There were a lot of sightseeing places. And, I went to the top part of Kyushu by car.
Nanami: What do you do in your free time?
Rio: I like to play games and watch sports, especially basketball and Olympic sports.
Nanami: Did you watch Olympic this year?
Rio: I watched basketball. I love basketball. I used to play basketball for 4 years only.
Nanami: What is your favorite menu item in cafeteria?
Rio: My favorite menu items are noodles like Udon and Ramen.
Nanami: Why did you take this class?
Rio: Because I wanted to take other class, the business, English, but I didn’t have much GPA. That’s why the priority with taking the classes is low and the business English was already done. That’s why I took this class.
Nanami: So, you want to take English class?
Rio: Yeah.
Nanami: Are you interested in journalism?
Rio: Not really. I want to learn English.
Nanami: Have you ever been to a foreign country?
Rio: Yeah, I’ve been to Canada, US, America, Australia, Singapore, and Hawaii.
I studied abroad in the US for about 2 months.
Nanami: Do you want to study abroad through APU program?
Rio: If I can, I want to, but I don’t have much GPA and IELTS score. Now it’s not enough for doing the study abroad,
Nanami: Your English is so good. So, you can get an IELTS score.
Rio: I need to get higher scores.
Nanami: Where is your favorite country you have already been.
Rio: My favorite country is the US because the place I have been studying abroad was California, and it was on the countryside, so there are Natures, not many noises, and the host family was really kind. I want to go again to the same place because I want to meet them.
Nanami: I’ve heard being a good host family and bad host family either. So, you can get a good family, right?
Rio: Yeah, I had an excellent host family.
Nanami: What is your favorite artist?
Rio: My favorite artist is Charlie Puth. It’s a famous artist. Sometimes they’re used as BGM on TikTok or Instagram. So, if you listen to songs once, you’re gonna know.
Nanami: The last question is do you have a part time job?
Rio: I have two part time jobs now, but I’m working at only one place.
The one is McDonald, but I’m not going to McDonald because I hate the manager.
The second one is that I’m teaching an English class online as a teacher.
